Daddy

Just talked with Daddy. He'd typed out an old email of his and needed it formatted correctly so he sent it to me and asked me to take care of it for him. I called to see if he'd received it and he began telling me about going back to church for the first time since last August 11th when Mama was first hospitalized. He said it was like going home - that it felt so good and right.

He really loves his church and he loves the pastors there. As he walked to his Sunday School class he stopped by Mama's class and said every one of those elderly women had to hug him and tell him how sorry they were and how much they missed Mama. That's all very sweet, but here's what really touched me. The senior adult pastor, Ed Chambless, usually sits up front with the senior pastor and musicians. But, on this Sunday, my Daddy's first back in so long - his first Sunday without his wife of 62 years - Pastor Chambless looked down and saw Daddy sitting alone. He left the front and told Daddy to move over so he could sit with him. He sat with Daddy during the rest of the service. That is a real servant of Christ.
