This picture was taken a long time ago. I was about 5 years old and I remember this dress as clearly as if it were yesterday. My mother made it, as she did most of my clothes when I was little. She took great joy in that.
I remember just about every piece of clothing she made for me. She was amazed when we were looking at old pictures one day and I said something about the white dress with tiny red polka-dots and the crisp white pinafore she had made. The photo was taken at a professional studio and was black and white. She was shocked I could remember the color of it because she said I was only 2 years old.
I remember the pink Easter dress with matching panties when I was 3 years old. I remember a sweet floral dress with a white collar which she entwined a strip of the floral fabric through when I was 6. I have a quilt that my Grandmother made that has the fabric in it. I remember a navy mini dress with a white collar that she embroidered a navy design on with her new fancy machine when I was in 8th grade.
I remember the white velvet wedding gown she made me when I was 19 years old.
And, I know right now, the little girl in the picture misses her Mama so much.
