Pretty interesting post on death masks here. I'd studied these in art but hadn't viewed the one of Lincoln (including his hands).Wikipedia shows this picture of an unidentified young woman known as L'Inconnue de la Seine who supposedly drowned in the Seine. She was thought to be so beautiful that a worker in the morgue made a death mask from her and copies were found hanging in homes all throughout Paris. But, the quirkiest thing about it to me is that Resusci Annie, the cpr training mannequin, was modeled after her.
