Mick & Stevie = ENERGY!
Airedales are special breeds in that they're boisterous. I mean always high energy happy dogs. With Henley and the Mini-Schnauzers it was lots of naps. With Mick & Stevie it's power naps - short and resulting in ping/zing/wowzer!
We had been leaving them out of their crates while we had errands to run. And, then last week they got into a Christmas gift of gourmet coffees. Sean comes home and find two very zippy Airedales, happy as can be with coffee grounds on the floor and them smelling of African blend coffee aromas. Honestly, I couldn't' tell whether the energy was from the very small amounts of coffee or from their just being Airedales.
It was from this instance that we decided it was time to make sure things were out of reach for them. So, I closed bathroom doors and made sure the counters and floors were all clear of anything they might could get into. Except...the dog collars.
We'd taken their collars off because a couple of weeks ago, while they were playing (aka It's Time to RUMBLE!) Stevie got one of her teeth hooked on Mick's collar. They were pretty much stuck together. We got them apart and removed the collars except for walks. I had left them on the coffee table earlier in the day and never dreamed that it would lead to this:
And then, there's my bed. My very good friend, Pam, sewing extraordinaire, took a Southern Living magazine spread I brought to her and made my a headboard, comforter, skirt, roman shades - the whole kit and kaboodle. Looked just like the magazine. I'm not persnickety about a lot, but I want my beds made each morning. I'm a control freak at heart and yet I'm so disorganized that it makes me a bit schizophrenic I'm afraid. I have found I can control at least making the beds every morning so when I left, my beautiful bed ala' Southern Living was perfecto! Not a wrinkle in sight. We came home to this:
I know - not a big deal, but just another example of two very energetic awesome pups doing what Airedales do - MOVE and quickly! We're loving them more and more each day. And, we're learning to close doors and use the crates when we have to be gone for longer than a couple of hours.
