Sophia makes me laugh!

Laughter means a lot to me. With the life we lead, laughter doesn't always come easily. I've discovered one of the joys of teaching piano is the oh-so-very-serious remarks the kids can make during lesson time.

Yesterday, sweet little Sophia was learning a new song by George M. Cohan. I try to make sure the kids know a bit about famous composers, both classical and modern. I said, "Sophia, Cohan wrote all sorts of great music for Broadway musicals. Some of the pieces even found their way into movies!" She was learning to play You're a Grand Old Flag. The piece didn't have a composition date so I told her it could have been as late as the 1930s when he wrote it. Sophia looked at me and squinted up her little face and said, "Golly, Mrs Bunny! That was before (she paused here to think)...BREAKDANCING!"

It took all I had not to crack up laughing. Gotta love it!
