...the making of you
He said to the lady, "What you've just done has been the making of you; keep it up – with My blessing."
I'm afraid that much of what I do is the "making of me" in the world's eyes. I'm not the best example - not the best role model. You know what? I'm okay with that. I mean, outside my husband being a pastor and realizing what I say & do can (but should not) reflect on him...
Oh, world. If you only knew.
So, while unable to sleep and using the time to read a bit of Scripture I came to the passage from Luke 7. If you're a Christian, you're quite familiar, but if not, it tells of a sinful woman who recognizes said sin before her God. While everyone else is casually acknowledging the presence of Jesus, she sees and recognizes His deity. She shows an act of quiet spiritual worship.
The NLT & NIV read: "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace."
Because I'm a girl brought up in Georgia or maybe just because the Holy Spirit led me in this early morning hour, I turned to the Cotton Patch Gospel of Jesus. When I read, "What you've just done has been the making of you..." well, I liked that. It touched me and I felt at home.
I honestly love having a Savior Who loves me in spite of myself. I love having a Savior Who is bigger than whatever situation I find myself in...Who is bigger than my sin and recognizes my heart when it's actually well-intended.
As long as "the making of you" is seen from Jesus' eyes, I'm okay.
