What an inspiring read! I've been doing a lot of reading lately & might have to add this to my list!
Great to find another Great Dane blogger! Your guys is so cute! And I love his name! You have a great blog. You should come check out my Danes, Layla & Lucius! They're both adopted & have added so much love to my little family ♥
Thank you, Amanda! Our beloved Henley died Oct 12, 2009. There is seldom a day that goes by that we don't sigh heavily at how much we miss him.
I am thrilled to learn of others who rescue/adopt, which is how Henley came into our lives. I'm going to ck into your blog because my husband and I plain out ADORE Great Danes. The care towards the end of Hen's life was incredibly hard. He trusted us and loved us to the end. Trying to make sure a 160 lb 42" tall Dane is comfortable wasn't easy, but it was so worth it. I have a picture of my husband sleeping on the hard floor by Henley's side because we couldn't bear to leave him alone.
The vet was ready to put him down 3 months before he passed. We knew he had more to give and we wanted to give him all we had.
God bless you for loving this giant breed!! We were so heart broken over Henley's death that we thought another breed would be the right decision for us. We rescued two Airedales, Mick and Stevie, and while they're pretty awesome dogs, they are not Great Danes.
