Allan can be difficult at times. Don't dare get me wrong; he brings more joy than problems, but... For instance, tonight David drove to his house to pick him up for our weekly Monday night dinner. In that short time span Allan walked to our house and rang the doorbell. Mick and Stevie (the Airedales) are on full alert barking and going berserk as only frisky Airedales can. I have to hold on to them so they won't rush out the door. I unlock the door, grab pups by their collars and yell out, "Allan, come on in!" I forget that Allan is extremely hard of hearing.
I wrangle the dogs into Sean's room and close the door as the doorbell is ringing again. I open the door and there's no Allan. Our dear friend, Frank drives up and I can hear the garage door closing with Allan animately talking with David. Frank, I'm certain can feel the frenzied nature of my trying to make sure Allan is taken care of while not letting two hyper Airedales loose. He brought some delicious home-cooked pumpkin cobbler for us. It is an incredibly wonderful dish of awesomeness. Thank you Frank!
I wasn't sure Allan would even eat dinner because it was vegetable beef soup and jalapeƱo muffins. He doesn't like vegetables and he's not crazy about spicy foods. Funny, he ate it all and ended with, "that was awesome!" Can't get better accolades than that!
As we were clearing up the dishes he asked me if I had a minute because he wanted to talk with me. So, I stopped and sat down with him. It was nothing earth shattering, but he needed a minute and I grabbed this quick video of him. JC - look out because Allan is coming to your house on Thanksgiving. And, Adam, I don't think you've met Allan, but he knows you because we talk about you & Shonda (all good lovin' stuff, of course!), so you're included in his 2010 Thanksgiving message!
