Our Child 2 Child ministry has me always on the lookout for crafts they are able to do that are both easy and look great. We try very hard to have the girl's crafts not look like a VBS craft which means no construction paper or macaroni is involved.
One thing they've had great success with is working with beads. We adults are always surprised at how easily some of the younger ones put together really lovely beverage glass charms or bracelets. Granted, some of them are "design challenged" but we have learned to remedy that by putting the beads in a bag for each girl with a pattern to follow.
They've done very sparkly pieces and more organic ones. This week they made pendants using a Swarvorski teardrop crystal representing a drop of clean water. The sale of these will go to The Water Project this month. Every single pendant sold this morning.
But, finding beads that are cost effective and yet beautiful is a challenge at times. I subscribe to a half dozen beading blogs for ideas and new products to consider. Which brings me to the reason for this post. I had to share the latest in "beads" and I'll let you decide how loudly to say "EWWW!!"
I don't think I'll be purchasing any of these.
