Quit yer whinin'!

I whine too much.  Okay, maybe "whine" isn't the correct word here.  I scream in agony too much.  Dave and I were talking last night about all the stuff that just keeps coming our way.  We came to two conclusions:
  1. If we really choose to, we can decide that we're going to take each challenge on with the attitude that God is growing us for some higher purpose.
  2. When God gave His Son, He gave His greatest sacrifice and that sacrifice brought pain.  But, with that pain also came the joy of salvation for us.  We need to pray for joy - to look to the Son and find the joy!
So, I receive what was billed as Martysjotd (Marty's Joke of the Day).  I signed up because I thought it would be nice to have something cute & light to laugh at as I opened my email each morning.  I found that Marty is father to four sons.  The youngest (he refers to as "son #4") has a brain tumor.  Each Joke of the Day also comes with Mary's daily take on the often harsh side of life dealing with his little boy's cancer.   His blog is a must-read.  In it you'll visit with a family who has real problems, but deals with them in a life-preserving way.  Maybe Marty is just one of those optimistic souls that always sees the glass half full.  Or, maybe he's being a great husband & father, knowing that families many times take the lead from the one filling that role in life.  Whatever the reason, it just affirms that it really is time for me to quit the whinin'!"
