Good Day

Do you ever have something that you find you just love doing and yet it takes everything you've got to make yourself do it?  That's me and my Friday mornings spent with my good friend Diane doing all sorts of art.  It's just a trial for me to get moving in the mornings.  I make myself do this each Friday because not only do I enjoy the heck out of it, but it's good for me.  It's the one time in the week that is spent creatively without the cares of the world bearing down.  Okay - the problems are still there, but when you're sipping a cup of chai and putting a brush to canvas they seem to at least take a back seat.

Diane is painting this awesome Warholesque' rendition of Bailey, her Irish Terrier.  It's artful, funky, and makes her happy.  My painting is of lumpy fruit with square blotches of paint.  It's not terrible, but it's not great.  I should say it's not even good.  The point is, I'm painting again.  That's a huge leap for me.

From there I taught piano to 4 great kids.  Later Dave, Sean, and I ate dinner at La Rumba's.  Sean's not nuts about the place and I don't really like their entrees, but I absolutely love their salsa & chips.  That's why I go.  It's filled with fresh cilantro which Sean claims makes it taste soapy.  He's insane because the stuff is delicious.

A fairly calm day is a good day.
