Today at the beach

Even in bad weather, the beaches here are incredible!

Sun, ocean, music, and my love = happiness

view from the car on our way into the park

Went to the beach, listened to music with my iPod while soaking up the sun, and even got David out into the water! Woot! The ocean was so calm and beautifully colored. The awesome nature of God is seen so clearly there.

Now, on to work!

If you ever catch on fire, try to avoid seeing yourself in the mirror,
because I'll bet that's what REALLY throws you into a panic.
~ Jack Handey, Deep Thoughts ~

Today was just about perfect, so I'm holding my breath. Seems like I'm always on the brink of panic because every time I start to feel a bit relaxed something else happens. But, for today, for right now, I'm breathing freely, sort of.

I got a phone call from my mother and she sounded good - weak, but good. And, yes, I'm still slightly holding my breath on this one!

David and I spent a couple of hours at the beach where I waded in the crystal waters of the Gulf. We must have found more than a dozen broken sand dollars. That may not sound like much, but you just don't find shells of any kind too often here. I guess it's a trade off for the turquoise and emerald waters.
Ahhh! Calm. Peace. Incredible beauty that only God could create!

Yikes! Ike!

While teaching piano today I learned that US 98 on Okaloosa Island had been closed because the ocean waves from Hurricane Ike was already covering the road. Amy had plans to take Ian and meet up with her mom and sister to watch the waves only to find out that my beloved Henderson Beach was under water! They were let onto the property but could go no further because the ocean had reached completely up to the boardwalk covering the beach! I can not begin to imagine what will happen to Texas if it's already this bad here (and we're so far away).

This video was taken earlier today in Destin. Can't believe there's a pink flamingo!!
